CHAIN, CHAIN, CHAIN What Is a Chain of Title?

Aretha said it first "I'm just a link in your Chain" A chain of title is a history of ownership of a particular property, revealing when a property was bought and sold, the Grantor/Grantee, and Legal Description. This information which has been recorded is obtained from the County Clerk's Office or by and through the computerized plant maintained by title companies. Each "Link" in the chain could be represented by a Deed, Probated Will. Divorce Decree or Final Judgment.
